The story of Journey to the West is loosely based on the story of Xuan Zang, a scholar who traveled from Chang’an (where current Xi’An city resides) around the world. According to the poster, he traveled to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Burma, and India. While in India, he traveled from north to south to teach. He was viewed as a diplomat for China during Tang dynasty and received respect and welcome everywhere he went. This poster was likely a school educational poster in the 80s.

Titled “Always Prepared”, this poster came from an oil painting done by Yi Guangliang, it describes the island people of China’s life (in the black and white photos) and the PLA soldier’s lives in the island boarder. The oil painting shows the resolve of the people of the island in fighting any invaders. This poster was a propaganda poster Chinese government distributed in response of the boarder dispute between China and Taiwan.
