This color ceramics sculpture depicts a familiar yet unusual sighting of Mao Ze Dong and Jiang Jie Shi. A scene from 1945 Chong Qing Negotiation, shortly after World War II and prior to the start of civil war, this sculpture was used to depict Mao’s strength and praise Mao’s negotiation skills with Jiang Jie Shi in 1945, in ChongQing, Si Chuan province. Once enemies, during World War II, Jiang, leader of the Nationalist Party and Mao, the leader of Communist party fought side by side to rid of the Japanese invaders. However, the failed negotiation between the two parties promptly the civil war shortly after. Mao and Jiang were never to be seen next to each other again. Jiang left China to Taiwan, and started his own Taiwan Republic government, Mao stayed on to become the first chairman of the People’s Republic of China.
