During Cultural Revolution local governments were gradually were replaced by Cultural Revolution Committee, often formed by three types of people - the People’s Liberation army members, the so-called pro Mao Revolution officials, and finally the red guards. By 1969, all local governments were replaced and formed Cultural Revolution Committee. A famous yet short lived slogan, as evidence by this Cultural Revolution color ceramics were developed, it said the following, in black: “Celebrate the Red (aka Communism) spreading and covering the entire country”. Just below the black lettered slogan, it states in red letters, the type of vehicle these revolution committee members were on – “Propaganda Car”. There is one less known fact about this slogan, and that later explains as to why it was so short lived. As it turns out, someone pointed out that when one is referring to the entire country, one should not forget Taiwan, and of course, according to the Central Chinese government in mainland China, Taiwan is still strategically and politically, part of China. However, Taiwan, by default is not red as it is not governed by the Chinese communist central government. Thus, the slogan was dropped. This large and elaborate color ceramics statue, depicting this slogan of “Celebrate the redness (aka Communism) Spreading and covering the entire country”. captured a moment that was crazy, yet short lived.
