This color ceramics vividly depicts one of the most loved then most hated politician in China named Lin Biao. A beloved general who led the Northeastern army divisions, Lin Biao was known as Mao's successor in the mid to late 60s until his fatal escape attempt to leave China, after he had fallen out of favor of Mao. In the famous restaurant inner city of Beijing called the Red Capital Club, a drink named "crash" is served as an reference to Lin Biao's ill attempted escape.
Lin Biao was known for his dark and thick eye brows that were shaped like the Chinese Character of eight, and was known to be a bit hunchbacked and always holding a red book on his hand. This sculpture captured Lin Biao's look to the tee, showcase the artist's talent in portraying Lin Biao. Since the Chinese government still refers Lin Biao as a political criminal who was plotting a scheme to kill Mao, statues of Lin Biao from Cultural Revolution era are not welcomed and are illegal to sell in the Chinese market strictly speaking.
