| This vintage Mao Ze Dong and Yang Kai Hui color ceramic statue features Mao Ze Dong and his wife Yang Kai Hui together, during the early days of revolution. Yang Kai Hui, the second wife of Mao Ze Dong, they wed in 1921 and she was executed in 1930 by Kuomintang forces. This sculpture was likely produced after "Gang of Four" and Jiang Qing's trial. The Gang of Four was left to blame for the Cultural Revolution and specifically Jiang Qing, who was the last wife of Mao Ze Dong, was considered a criminal. Post her fall, the other wives; especially Yang Kai Hui, who was characterized as the true companion of Mao Ze Dong and the true wife to Mao Ze Dong. This sculpture was made as a propaganda material to reestablish the importance of Mao's marriage to Yang Kai Hui. Size: 9.5" w by 16" t. Base engraving states the following: "Mao Ze Dong and his revolutionary companion Yang Kai Hui." | ||
