| This poster has clearly seen better days on the wall of a health clinic, in a village. In the middle to late 70s, due to the overgrowth of Chinese population, the Chinese government implemented a mandatory "One Child" policy, which mandates all Chinese couples to only have one child per family. It started with Planned Parenthood with a softer tone. In this poster it shows happy peasant and a woman tractor driver and with calligraphy it described why it's important to "plan birth" carefully, which basically boils down to serve the country, revolutionary spirit type of propaganda messages. Developed This poster resided on the wall of a local village's medical clinic. In the middle to late 70s, due to the overgrowth of Chinese population, the Chinese government implemented a mandatory "One Child" policy, which mandates all Chinese couples to only have one child per family. It started with Planned Parenthood with a softer tone. In this poster it shows happy peasant couples and women farmers. In calligraphy it described why it's important to "plan birth" carefully, which basically boils down to serve the country, revolutionary spirit type of propaganda messages. What's interesting about this poster is that it actually states "One couple, two children", which is a reflection of an earlier country-side development, making it a rare poster collection for those who are interested in the Chinese One Child policy's history, because during the late 70s the peasants of China were allowed to have two children, the policy has changed to state that if the first child is a girl, then the couple could have another child (to support the idea of only son counts).
